Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Do you provide free estimates?

Yes! We provide clear, detailed estimates so you understand the scope of work before any installation or repair begins. Please understand that an estimate is not the same as troubleshooting. If you are experiencing an electrical problem, we will have to perform troubleshooting in order to determine the cause of the electrical issue. We charge a troubleshooting fee for this.

Why does my circuit breaker keep tripping?

Circuit breakers are designed to trip when there is a problem, such as overloaded circuits, damaged wiring, or an issue with something plugged in. Tripping helps prevent overheating and reduces the risk of electrical fires. If a breaker trips repeatedly, the cause should be properly diagnosed through electrical troubleshooting and repairs.

Can I replace a breaker with a larger one if it keeps tripping?

No. Breakers and wiring are sized to work together. Installing a larger breaker on wiring that is not rated for it can allow the wire to overheat without tripping, which increases the risk of fire or equipment damage. If a breaker continues to trip, the issue should be evaluated rather than bypassed, often requiring a professional electrical inspection and repair.

Do I need a dedicated circuit for an EV charger?

Yes. EV chargers require a properly sized dedicated circuit to operate safely and efficiently. This helps prevent overloading your electrical system and ensures reliable charging. Learn more about EV charger circuit installations.

Can I add outlets to an existing circuit?

In some cases, yes—but it depends on the circuit’s capacity and how it is currently used. Adding outlets to an already loaded circuit can lead to overload issues, so it’s important to evaluate the system before making changes. In some cases, a dedicated circuit installation may be the safer solution.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical panel?

You may need a panel upgrade if your system cannot support your electrical usage, if breakers trip frequently, or if you are adding high-demand equipment like EV chargers or generators. You may also need a panel replacement or upgrade if your insurance company will no longer cover your existing panel (i.e. Challenger, Federal Pacific, etc.). Learn more about electrical panel upgrades and replacements.

Can you run power to a shed or detached building?

Yes. We install wiring for sheds and accessory buildings, including power, lighting, and outlets, based on how the space will be used and in compliance with applicable electrical codes. Learn more about shed and accessory building wiring.

Do I need a dedicated circuit for a hot tub or sauna?

Yes. Most hot tubs and saunas require a dedicated circuit to safely supply the correct amount of power. The circuit must be sized according to the manufacturer’s requirements and installed in compliance with applicable electrical codes. Learn more about hot tub and sauna circuit installations.

What is a GFCI outlet and where is it required?

A GFCI (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter) outlet helps protect against electrical shock by shutting off power if it detects an imbalance. GFCI protection is typically required in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, garages, and outdoor locations. We install and replace these as part of our outlet installation and replacement services.

Why are my lights flickering?

Flickering lights can be caused by loose connections, overloaded circuits, or issues with fixtures or wiring. Occasional flickering may be minor, but persistent flickering should be evaluated to determine the cause. This is often addressed through electrical troubleshooting and repairs or, in some cases, lighting installation updates.

Do you install generators?

We install electrical connections for portable generators, such as generator inlet connections. We do not sell generators, but we can help ensure your home is properly set up for safe backup power use. Learn more about generator connection installations.

How do I know if an outlet or switch needs to be replaced?

Outlets or switches may need replacement if they are loose, damaged, discolored, or not functioning properly. Worn devices can become a safety concern and should be addressed. These are handled through our fixture and device installation services.
